6 BB STAGES

The project outlines the need to change our unsuccessful western land management models by understanding an urgent parameter such as climate change by studying indigenous land management techniques. In order to better adjust the response of designers in terms of Ecological design which makes it possible to reposition the knowledge of built environment experts. At present, such knowledge is insufficient, inaccurate, or even disorderly. It is therefore crucial today to evaluate those practices and expertise knowledge to propose a just design in terms of climate response. In response to that, a critical installation named ‘6 BB Stages’ has been designed.

The Budj Bim sustainable fishing method has been broken into 6 parts which has been shown with the help of a critically designed installation in shape of a female garment. The installation represents a women’s garment broken into 6 parts. Each section shows one stage of Budj Bim fishing process. The 6 parts include eel season, Budj Bim volcanic rocks, lake Condah, eel trap, entrapped grown eels and free young eels. They are joined with a metal strip showing the clear flow of the fishing process.
