The design challenge involved creating a solar car shed accommodating 4-6 cars while assessing its financial feasibility for presentation to stakeholders.
This project was done in collaboration with the esteemed supervision of Street + Garden furniture company. It focused on exploring the potential of the project and visualizing a cutting-edge solar car shed for charging Electric Vehicles (EVs). This innovative initiative aimed to provide sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions in addition to just a car shed.
As per the research it was found that, a solar panel system of 6kW - 7.2kW is required to power a car shed of 6 cars to charge the cars enough for daily commute in 6 - 8hours. Basic components of the solar system include -
1. Batteries 2. Inverter 3. Electric metre

My design concept entails the incorporation of 90-95 solar panels positioned on the roof of the car shed, providing sufficient energy to power 4-6 cars simultaneously. The estimated overall cost falls within the range of AUD 6,000 to AUD10,800, considering a cost of $1 to $1.5 per watt, excluding installation and additional components. The primary materials utilized in the construction include golden aluminium metal, concrete, and plastic, complemented by the integration of solar panels. The leafy pattern used in the design of the car shed symbolizes the usage of clean energy which will be used to power electric vehicles.

It was found a viable design, money vise to be presented to the car shed stakeholder.
